2009 Virginia State
Taekwondo Championships
This tournament was sponsored by Grandmaster Byung Kon
Cho of Cho's Black Belt Academy
and will be held at the Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale, VA on March
28, 2009.
Another great tournament for our growing team. With a 3 hour drive we assumed
that participation wouldn't be up to par but were glad to see that assumption
was wrong. 8 participants won a total of 16 medals (stats below) and proved that
the pride that Master Tinnon and Coach Sarris have in the growing Competition
Team is well founded. For those who aren't familiar with the typical size of
most competition teams, ours is on the small side. It should be noted however
that those participating seem to consistently medal.
OUTSTANDING JOB TEAM!!!

Due to the number of photos I won't attempt to caption the
majority of them.
A few however I couldn't help but add a little something.
Thanks to Trish Tinnon for manning the camera while the rest of us had our "fun"
The 2009 Virginia State Taekwondo Championships had some surprises in store for us this year...
An unexpected surprise? It certainly
was for us...
One of the special guests was none other than Master Jhoon Rhee himself. At 77
he serves all practitioners of Martial Arts as an example in longevity,
generosity, and fortitude. After a short demonstration of breaking and
stretching he gave an emotional (for some of us) motivational speech that won't
soon be forgotten.

Compliments of Trish...
Logan Boesch, Sheila Llanderal, and Jon Spencer brought home 7 medals between
the three of them
